| Lionel Luthor is the only child of Scottish immigrants Lachlan Luthor and Eliza Meehan. He was born in Metropolis, Kansas, and grew up in the "Suicide Slums" - the poorest, most crime-rife area of the otherwise prosperous city. His father, a thief, regularly beat and abused him and his mother, a drunk, was unwilling or unable to help. A good student, he dabbled in petty crime when he became friends with the teenage crime lord Morgan Edge. When Lionel was 17, Morgan destroyed the building Lionel lived in, killing his parents. Lionel, who was working in a print shop at the time, survived and collected the insurance money. Going to Princeton on a full scholarship, Lionel majored in chemistry, and graduated with honors. During this time, he began to reinvent his family history, claiming to be descended from Scottish nobility. He went on to undertake a PhD in Biochemical Engineering at Yale, using his research as the basis for his nascent company: Luthor Industries. OOC Info | This is a muse journal. Lionel Luthor is a character from the TV series Smallville. | I am current up to and including most of Season 7, at least where Lionel is concerned. Prompts may be written in any timescale or AU, but for RP purposes he's in roughly S4 right now as his Martha is S4-based. So, he's out of prison, he's vaguely reformed (but not quite), and he has short hair (honestly, the hair continuity is the worst thing to follow).
